Welcome to Traditional Dancing
in Las Vegas!
A Contra dance in Vermont
Welcome! Please come out and join us for a fun-filled evening of contra dancing in Las Vegas. Dances feature wonderful live music - traditional jigs, reels, and hornpipes from the Scots-Irish tradition on both sides of the Atlantic form the basic repertoire.
Whether you are a new or experienced dancer, in your teens or in your 60s, by yourself or bringing your partner/family - come out for a great evening of big smiles, laughs, community fun, and exercise!

Our regular caller
Contra dancing is low impact and doesn't require special footwork
although there is lots of room for more experienced dancers to get
fancy and add lots of flourishes. All dances are taught and called and beginners are always welcomed.
If you're into traditional style New England, Irish, Quebecois, or Appalachian music, you might enjoy coming just to listen. Two local bands, the Sagebrush Stringband and 112 and Then Some, alternate in providing lively traditional tunes.
SNOCD also offers English Country Dancing and Scottish Country Dancing classes.

Contra dances are generally every 2nd and 4th Saturday. Check our schedule here.

What to wear
There's no such thing as "proper" Contra Dance attire, but you may
want to wear light casual clothing as you will probably get a bit warm
and
comfortable indoor shoes with non-marking soles and low heels for easier
dancing.
